The Social Welfare Department of Delhi extends a helping hand to persons with disabilities through the State Disability Pension scheme, a collaborative effort between the State and Central Governments. Termed as Subsistence Allowance/Financial Allowance, this Delhi Government Scheme For Deaf scheme provides a monthly grant of Rs. 2500.

Eligibility Criteria

To avail of this scheme, individuals must meet the following criteria:

1. Age Limit: Persons with disabilities aged between 0 to 60 years.
2. Income Threshold: Family income not exceeding Rs. 75,000 per annum from all sources.
3. Residency: Residing in the National Capital Territory of Delhi for at least 5 years prior to the application.
4. Disability Percentage: Disability should be 40% or more, certified by the Medical Board of a Government Hospital.
5. Bank Account: Maintain a single-operated account in any Bank or Post Office for electronic payment receipt.

Required Documents

Applicants need to furnish the following documents:

1. Proof of residence, such as Ration Card, Voter Card, Passport, etc., demonstrating 5 years of residency in Delhi.
2. Disability certificate issued by the Medical Board.
3. Self-declaration of family income.
4. Recommendation by a Gazetted Officer.
5. In absence of documentary evidence for proof of residence, statements from witnesses along with their relevant documents.

Application Process

Interested individuals can obtain the application form from the District Social Welfare Office or the official website. Completed forms should be submitted at the same office.

Payment Method

The monthly assistance of Rs. 1500 is remitted quarterly into the beneficiary’s bank account through the ECS system of RBI. The District Social Welfare Officer oversees verification, sanction, and payment processes.

Duration of Benefits

Decisions on applications are typically made within 45 days of submission. Beneficiaries reaching 60 years of age are automatically transferred to the Old Age Assistance Scheme.

Delhi Transport Corporation offers free traveling in DTC Buses for persons with visual impairments, along with concessions for their escorts.

Eligibility Criteria

To avail of this facility, individuals must meet the following criteria:

1. Disability Percentage: 40% or above.
2. Concession for Escorts: Those with 100% blindness can avail a 50% concession for their escorts.
3. Residency: Applicants must be residents of Delhi.

Required Documents

Applicants need to submit:

1. Card issued by the SDM.
2. Proof of residence.
3. Passport-size photograph.
4. Copy of Disability certificate.

Application Procedure

Application forms can be obtained from respective depots for a nominal fee. Completed forms, along with required documents, should be submitted at the same depot.
